The Lyrical Reflection Series is an invitation for seekers and believers, for those who feel distant or close to the Divine, and can be used as a companion to the Lectionary, the Sunday Scripture Readings. Book 4 is a guided reflection prompt journal that lets you write your own words for the Glory of God for an entire month!
Here is what your writing will consist of...
Dear Writer, Artist, Singer, Seeker,
Canticle means song, and this is an invitation to write your own song for the Glory of God, a canticle to echo the Word, find your rhythm, and journey deep into the mystery.
There are seven sections to this journal, each with a verse, short introduction, and guided reflection prompt, followed by space (lined paper, blank paper, music paper) to compose from your heart. You can use the section openings as a focus for your work, or for inspiration, or for prayer as you begin or end your writing.
Section I, “Canticle for Waiting,” honors silence, longing, and trust. Key canticles include Genesis 8:6–12; Luke 2:25–32; Romans 8:22–25.
Section II, “Canticle for Praise,” honors adoration, joy, and glory. Key canticles include Exodus 15:1–21; Isaiah 12; Luke 1:46–55 – “The Magnificat” (Mary’s Song)
Section III, “Canticle for Surrender,” honors yielding, obedience, and peace. Key canticles include
Genesis 22:1–14; Luke 22:39–46; Philippians 2:5–11.
Section IV, “Canticle for Deliverance,” honors freedom, rescue, and triumph. Key canticles include Exodus 14:13–31; Luke 8:26–39; Acts 12:6–11.
Section V, “Canticle for Promise” honors vision, hope and prophecy. Key canticles include Genesis 12:1–3; Jeremiah 29:11; Luke 1:26–38.
Section VI, “Canticle for Art” honors creation, color, and beauty. Key canticles include Exodus 31: 1-5; Isaiah 64:8, and Revelation 21: 11.
Section VII, “Canticle for Music” honors melody, harmony, and dance. Key canticles include 1 Samuel 16: 23, Zephaniah 3: 17, and Acts 16: 25.
The Finale is Your Song, an invitation to continue to compose “All for the Glory of God.”
May these pages become your personal path, prayer, canticle.
Blessings & Grace,
Janice Lindemann
